Tips for a Happier, Healthier Holiday Season

December 19, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Nature’s Bounty®. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Always talk with your doctor before adding any supplements to see if they are right for you!

The holiday season is probably my favorite time of the whole year, but it is also probably the busiest as well.  Add kids on top of the usual agenda and things can get pretty chaotic! As a mom, I try my best to maintain good health and self-care throughout the winter season.  Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite ways to easily add in some healthy habits no matter how busy life gets!

I feel like one of the most important things to do is get a restful night’s sleep.  However, sometimes, especially for myself, this can be the hardest.  I occasionally struggle with sleepless nights, and a lot of times when the kids go to bed, I feel like it is one of the only moments I have to myself and therefore try to get everything done in this window. Unfortunately, that makes it hard for me to wind down and to turn my brain off to fall asleep. This is something I have been making an effort to work on, so one of the first things I started to implement during my nighttime routine is supplementing with melatonin.

I’ve been using Nature’s Bounty® Sleep 3 which contains 10mg of melatonin and calming L-Theanine.  It has both a quick-release melatonin and a long-acting melatonin which has helped me to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer during times of occasional sleeplessness.*  In addition to this, I try to charge my phone away from my bed because otherwise I have a tendency to scroll on my phone for too long while trying to fall asleep.  I also try to devote a little bit of pre-bedtime to myself for self-care. Sometimes that means watching a tv show alone with a cup of peppermint tea and sometimes that means a bubble bath with a face mask.  Either way, I try to create that little special time to help me unwind.

Another important step I take in self-care is to wake up before the kids and enjoy a cup of coffee alone.  I find this to be the most helpful for me to set my goals for the day.  Admittedly, I don’t always get enough of the nutrients I know my body deserves – specifically fruits and vegetables.

One of the ways I get quick nutrition during a busy day is by making a smoothie.  My favorite smoothie lately has been frozen blueberries, fresh watermelon and unsweetened 100% cranberry juice. It is SO good! I also take a dose of Zinc from Nature’s Bounty® for immune support no matter the time of year.*

Last year, I was really good at exercising daily and I found that along with that increase in exercise, I also had an overall boost in my energy.  I have tried to make exercise a priority for myself again and currently my goal is for a 30 minute bike ride each day.  There are so many resources now for indoor exercise and literally anything for 20 minutes will help!  If you’re lucky and a day comes by that isn’t super cold, try to get outside for a walk.  Being outside is incredible for my mental health and luckily with living in Florida, I can still spend most days outside during the winter.

If you’re interested in trying either of the Nature’s Bounty® products, you can grab them on sale at Publix with the Extra Savings promotion from 12/18-12/31. I hope that you find one or two of these small changes to be helpful towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle this holiday season and all year round! Enjoy all of the moments of magic that this season has to offer!

Summer Drink Round Up: Florida Cane Distillery

June 16, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

If you’re a Tampa local or just in town visiting, you have to check out the Florida Cane Distillery located in Ybor!

Grab a drink inside at the bar or enjoy the outdoor seating in historic downtown Ybor.

There are a lot of fun spots in historic Ybor so definitely make it one of the stops on your itinerary! You can book a tour/tasting of the distillery anytime Thursday-Sunday and sample a few of their spirits before purchasing your favorites! You can also follow them on Instagram for any other upcoming events! If you’re not local, you can still purchase any of their spirits here!

I’m sharing some of my favorite cocktails for summer made with some of Florida Cane’s flavored spirits!

First up is this Orange Creamsicle that was AMAZING. My husband and I are both from Maryland which is famous for a fresh Orange Crush. This was a yummy twist on that drink incorporating some Florida Cane vanilla vodka!

Ingredients (for two drinks):
–Florida Cane Orange & Vanilla Vodka
-Whipped Cream
-6 Oranges or Freshly squeezed Orange Juice
-1 can Lemon/Lime Soda (I used Zevia)

How to make your own: (VIDEO LINKED HERE)

1) Juice 6 oranges, FRESH is key but sometimes you can find freshly juiced orange juice at specialty stores.

2) Add ice, one shot of Florida Cane Orange Vodka and one shot of Florida Cane Vanilla vodka to your shaker.  Combine with ice and shake to mix!

3) Strain shaker over a glass of ice and top with lemon/lime soda.

4) Garnish with whipped cream and an orange slice!

Next up is this Rum Punch with Florida Cane’s Pineapple Rum. This drink gives me total beach vibes and I’m here for it! (VIDEO LINKED HERE)

Ingredients:
1 shot @floridacane Pineapple Rum (linked here)
1/4 shot Grenadine
1 shot Coconut Water
2 shots Pineapple Juice
1 shot Orange Juice

Combine everything into your shaker with ice, pour into an iced glass, add some cherries and pineapple for garnish and enjoy!

Who doesn’t love Strawberry Lemonade? This next drink combines Florida Cane’s Strawberry Vodka and fresh lemonade to make a refreshing Summer Drink!

Ingredients:
1 shot Florida Cane Strawberry Vodka
2 Basil Leaves
One Lemon sliced for garnish
Lemonade (I used Simply brand)
Strawberries (cut)
Lemon Sparkling Water

How to make this yummy drink: (VIDEO LINKED HERE)

1) Fill your glass with ice and pour one shot of Florida Cane Strawberry Vodka into your glass.

2) Muddle 3 strawberries in a container and add to your glass.

3) Add basil leaves.

4) Fill your glass with lemonade and top with a splash of lemon sparkling water.

5) Garnish with a sliced lemon and strawberry — Enjoy!

Last is this frozen dessert drink I made for Memorial Day and it would be a perfect option for the Fourth of July!

Here’s how to make your own: (VIDEO LINKED HERE)

1) Rim your glass using lemon juice and blue sugar sprinkles 🍋

2) Combine 1 scoop of vanilla icecream, half a shot of Florida Cane Vanilla vodka and a handful of blueberries into your blender. Blend and add to bottom of glass.

3) Combine half a shot of Florida Cane Vanilla vodka with 2 scoops of vanilla vodka, blend until smooth and add to glass.

4) Combine half a shot of Florida Cane Strawberry vodka, 1 scoop of vanilla icecream and a handful of sliced strawberries. Blend and add to glass.

5) Top with whipped cream and garnish with a toothpick of a strawberry, marshmallow and blueberry.

6) Serve with a straw, and enjoy!

Let me know which drink is your favorite!

Tampa Favorites: Hyde Park

June 8, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

If you’ve ever been to Tampa, you’ve probably heard of Hyde Park. It’s the cutest little downtown area with shops and restaurants and you could spend a whole day there exploring. I’m going to highlight some of my favorites spots to visit!

First up: definitely grab a coffee from Buddy Brew. I had the caramel latte and it’s so good and not too sweet! I also love their mission to “Brew Good. Do Good”.

Another great thing is that Hyde Park has so many family fun activities like Pedego and Color Me Mine.

At Pedego, you can rent an electric bike to explore even more of the surrounding area with! I think this would be so fun to do after dinner when it’s a little cooler!

At Color Me Mine you can pick different items to paint and then stroll around the rest of the park before heading back to pick up your finished product!

You could spend a whole day shopping -dangerous for sure- but some of my favorite shops are:

  • Anthropologie, Kendra Scott, Lululemon, West Elm and Pottery Barn, of course!
  • Fig & Julep which is a charcuterie shop and has tons of unique options for your board! They also offer almost everything in the store to sample so you can try before you buy!
  • Cake Drip which is probably the most instagram-able (making that a noun) shop I’ve ever been to. They have the cutest back drops so while you’re waiting for your homemade macaroon or candy bar to be made, you can be taking photos for the gram
  • Sunni Spencer: a unique lifestyle boutique with probably the most beautiful and unique pieces of clothing, ever.

Those backgrounds at Cake Drip are to die for! Bonus points if you can name this movie!
Don’t forget to grab a cupcake from the Sprinkles ATM! I’ve always wanted to do this!
Also grab a popsicle at The Hyppo to cool off after shopping where they have dozens of homemade unique popsicle flavors!

Favorite Places to Eat (so far):

Full disclosure, I haven’t eaten at every restaurant in Hyde Park yet- but it’s definitely on my to do list! I am going to highlight the two we have tried so far: Bartaco & Forbici, both of which were delicious!!

I had heard so many good things about Bartaco before we actually went – and it definitely didn’t disappoint. The drinks were amazing and I’m pretty sure Jacob ordered every taco on the menu!

I love the atmosphere here and they open all the windows so you can still feel like you’re eating outdoors but in a comfortable setting without the heat!
  • For drinks, I had the Mojito and Jacob had the “Pineapple Express” made with libélula joven + fresh pineapple juice + housemade pineapple syrup + lime + yellow chartreuse! SO good.
  • For appetizers, we had the plantains and chips + salsa verde, salsa roja and guacamole. All of it was delicious but when we go back I think I’m just going straight for a huge bowl of guac and plantains!
  • For tacos, we literally tried all of them. Our favorites were: baja fish, grilled corvina and glazed pork belly!

The little guy was a huge fan of everything as well!
Cheers!

Next up is Forbici Italian which was SO good!

Also a beautiful atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options.

Jacob grabbed a Mule and I stuck with water but his drink was delicious!

For an appetizer we started with the calamari which was probably one of the best calamari dishes we’ve had and it was served with a tomato aioli. I highly recommend it!
Jacob had the Linguine alle vongole and it was SO good!
I had the Salsiccia pizza and it was delicious – I’d love to go back and try a few of their pizzas because the crust is amazing!
Another happy camper here!

Have you been to Hyde Park? I’d love to hear about your favorite places!

Celebrate We Will: Birthday Party Place Settings!

May 25, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

With the year we have had– we decided to go all out. This year, Charlotte turned three and Henry turned one. With birthday so close together (within the same week), we decided to throw a huge joint birthday and with all of our attendees being vaccinated, it was so nice to feel a sense of normalcy in gathering again. There literally is nothing better than the sense of having friends and family around.

We were gifted beautiful decor from Katt at Celebrate We Will and I just had to share her small business with you! Katt is a mama in Tennessee and we met on Instagram. She has the most beautiful decoration sets and has shared a discount code with us which is “PEDALINGPA10” for 10% off your order! I will link her Instagram here. She shares “Party Tip Tuesday” on IGTV each Tuesday and I love her ideas!

The two party themes we chose were “Garden Party” and “Safari Season” which were absolutely perfect for our little ones!

I may have gone slightly overboard on flowers for this party but when you haven’t done anything in a year– you have to go all out! How beautiful is this garden party set?

I love the colors in this set and how each pattern is unique. You can choose to either mix and match the napkin sets or pair the matching napkin with the plate.

I used a vase of flowers and these multicolored fans from Katt to create centerpieces for Charlotte’s tables. You could also hang the fans in an arrangement to create a backdrop! I think this party set would also be beautiful for a bridal shower or baby shower!

For Henry’s theme, I really wanted to do “Wild One” which is why the Safari theme turned out to be perfect!

These little zebra napkins are the absolute cutest!

For Henry’s centerpieces, I used this faux fern that I will use in his room for decor and also this fun lantern that I will keep on our patio!

I’m not sure which babe had more fun but it sure was special to see their smiles!

Charlotte basically lived in this bounce house the entire day!

… and not surprising at all but Henry spent most of the day eating!

Katt has some fun Summer collections up on her site and I am loving this option for the Fourth of July!

How to Make an Easter Treat Board

March 20, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

How to create a treat board for Easter:

– buy treats in a mix of pastel colors and also milk and white chocolate to break up the color.
– begin by placing your larger treats in scattered areas of the board, focus on the corners and the middle
– fill in the gaps with colorful items like peeps, jelly beans and m&m’s.
– use different items for texture like easter grass and place cadbury eggs on top like a “nest”.

Enjoy!!

Spring is here and Summer is just around the corner! With everything opening up soon, I am so excited to grab some new pieces for my closet and I am loving these options from The Mason Jar Boutique!

Even more exciting — right now you can save 10% off your entire purchase from their site with the code “PEDALINGPA10”!

Linking a few of my favorites below!

First up is this dramatic sleeve option with an eyelit print! I love this because it’s the perfect length and so easy to throw on for some errands or wear for a date night out!

Next up is this cute embroidered blush pink option. I paired it with these heels which come in so many different color options have been a staple for every outfit for me lately.

How pretty is this lace dress? I love the eyelash details on the hem and sleeves!

I’m also personally a HUGE fan of Rompers. I think as a mom they are a game changer. For one, you don’t have to match anything which is always a win. They are always comfortable and easy for you to be on the go with your kids!

I love this black romper because it’s comfortable, cute and nursing friendly!

Last is this ruffled dress and I’m obsessed with the details – I love a white dress and I love ruffles so this was a win for me. Length is also super important to me and I love the length of this one!

I paired it with these heels I’m currently obsessed with! So comfortable!

Spring Inspo: Dress to Impress

February 27, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I know so many of us are ready for the warm weather and I am lucky to live somewhere where it is warm most of the time. Honestly, Spring Style just puts me in a good mood!

Sharing some of my favorite looks recently!

This dress is definitely my number one favorite right now as it’s combining a few of my favorite things: neutral colors, ruffles, smocked details and best of all – a great deal at under $30! Sharing the look here.

I think this dress would look so cute with a basket purse like this one for under $25!

Next up is this wrap dress. Honestly I have shared before, but I love any wrap dress. I just think they are so flattering on any body shape, always drawing attention to your natural waist!

Linking details for this dress and accessories here.

Another closet staple necessity is definitely a black T-shirt dress. I LOVE this one and have it in the long-sleeved version as well. You can easily dress this up or down, add a denim jacket or pair with heels or canvas sneakers depending on what you’re doing. I love the fit of this one!

Stay tuned for more looks!

Happy Shopping!

Kelp Sushi: The best date-night

February 22, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

If you live in the Tampa, Florida area, you HAVE to try Kelp Sushi. Jacob loves Sushi and was so in love with their rolls.

We tried the Spicy Tuna Roll, Angry Hamachi Roll and the lollipop roll. The favorite was definitely the Angry Hamachi Roll with Hamachi, avocado, jalapeno, cilantro, masago and eel sauce- YUM!

The rolls are seriously beautiful… and delicious!

I prefer any type of hibachi-type meals so I grabbed the Beef Donburi bowl and it was amazing!!

For a starter we had the pork gyoza which were amazing. I love any gyoza but you could tell these were freshly made and we loved the hint of ginger. We also tried the Takoyaki which was yummy too!

For dessert we had the Tempura Green Tea Cheesecake and it was AMAZING! I loved it and Charlotte did too! Next time when we dine-in I’d like to try the Mochi Ice cream.

Let me know if you try Kelp and what rolls you ordered!!

Becoming a Stay at Home Mom: Finding the magic in the mundane.

February 13, 2021 by admin Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

What an interesting title. No matter what role you fill, you’re always a mom. Full time, no question about it! Even when you’re at a 9-5 you spend every minute thinking of those tiny humans in the back of your mind. But we have coined the term SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) as a lifestyle, and I entered into that lifestyle about a year ago.

One year ago, when sh*t hit the fan, to put it bluntly- I traded in my 6 figure career to become a Stay at Home Mom. What a life changer!

Before I entered the role, I will openly admit I was “one of those”. One of the people who thought the grass is always greener on the other side and said how easy Stay at Home Moms have it. Now that I’ve hopped that fence, I am always wondering how I ever even said that outloud!

We had always planned for a prolonged maternity leave when Henry was born but that I was going to go back to working as a Hospitalist PA and the babes would go to Daycare. Hubs and I both loved the socialization it brought for Charlotte and we thought it would be great for both of them to go. But as above, when the world turned upside down, like everyone else in the world- we decided to switch gears. I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home with them and here we are, almost one year later.

But these days are NOT all rainbows and butterflies. They are hard, they can be isolating and it can be very easy to lose yourself. It’s so important to find something for yourself – whether that be journaling, blogging, exercise, crafting – whatever it may be – I know that I personally needed something for myself.

But then there is the beauty. The beauty of seeing each moment of every ordinary day in these kids lives. I consider myself so lucky.

The two year old tries to do everything in her power to press my buttons on a daily basis and the little man would crawl inside of my body if he could but I am thankful for each moment I get to spend with them.

We definitely don’t have it all together. And it’s a miracle if we are all dressed in one day. Usually only one of us makes it out of pajamas and the rest of us look like we rolled out of bed. Note Charlotte in a bow, me sporting a mom bun and Henry in his Christmas pajamas with donut crumbs on the Ergo carrier.

But this is our day.

This is our mess.

This is our ordinary.
