One thing I am passionate about is women supporting women and supporting small businesses in general. If I can shop small, I definitely will. I wanted to share some of my favorite Small Businesses from 2020 to support in the new year!
I am hoping to make this topic an ongoing series so if you know of a small business please reach out to me!
First up are these silicone reusable straws by Save One Straw! I was never a reusable straw mom until these but I did always spend money on plastic straws. I love these because they come in so many pretty colors and you can cut them to be the length that you want. There are options for straight and curved straws but I prefer the curved straws for my daughter, Charlotte because it is easier for her to drink out of!
The metal straws worry me after I have read some pretty scary stories of accidents that can happen with them. These ones are perfectly safe for your kiddos and my favorite part– they’re dishwasher safe!!
Save One Straw is a small business owned by Becky (an RN) and her husband Brad. They were inspired to create a safe, reusable silicone straw to reduce plastic waste and provide a safe option for their kids. To learn more about their mission, click here.
Another company I love is Rescue Me Candle Co. owned by Kiersten Traylor. Her business is based out of North Carolina and she makes all of her own candles. She is passionate about animals and has two dogs herself, Lola and Luke and 20% of her proceeds go directly towards animal rescues! She is always looking for new animal rescues to partner with so if you have one that gave you your furry friend, let her know so she can reach out! In the meantime, enjoy these yummy candles!!
Kiersten is a full-time elementary school counselor and started this business in February of 2018. She has some exciting things planned for 2021 and I can’t wait to see her continue to grow! Go grab some candles on her Etsy shop here! My favorites are Lemon Cookie Licks and Blueberry Beagle! Even more exciting is Kiersten recently started selling her candles in the Triangle Pop Up shop in Raleigh, NC!
If you’re into Self Care Sunday’s like I am, then you’ll love this one! Basic Girl Co. is made by my sorority sister and RN, Katie Prestilio! Katie was pregnant with her daughter when she started making her own skin care products because she wanted to know exactly what ingredients she was using on her body! She loved her products so much that she decided to share them and thus, Basic Girl co. was made!
My favorites are the body/face scrubs and the lip balm! She has the best flavors like Apple Cider and Peppermint Vanilla Latte so you can really feel like you’re spending a day at the spa! These products also make great gifts so I have sent them to friends for their birthday!
Next up is Totzie Suction Plates for Toddlers! These little mats are made out of silicone and they are microwave and dishwasher safe — my favorite! It comes with a matching travel case and spoon and is perfect for meals on the go or to keep in your diaper bag! We took ours on our trip to South Carolina when visiting my parents and it was perfect! Even better is you can grab it on Amazon, here!
Totzie is made by Lauren who is a mom of three and used to work as a teacher. When the pandemic hit, she went on maternity leave and never went back! She developed Totzie and started selling products on Amazon! Grab one here for yourself or as a baby shower gift!
Small Town Handmade is another favorite of mine and another sweet mama business! Terri is a military wife and as she is constantly on the move for her husband’s work, she decided to transition to her own business when she became pregnant in 2019 and stay home with her son. Her husband got her a Cricut machine for Valentine’s Day and since then, she has been crafting away! Terri says that she loves being able to connect with others through her creations!
For Christmas, she made sweet Henry this onesie that reads:
My first: Pandemic, Quarantine, Christmas.. how fitting! Terri has her own portfolio on her Instagram here, but you can also send her a message if you’d like something customized!
